With our hard-won expert product knowledge and years of combined experience, we assist designers, installers, facility managers, and end-users with projects in commercial, public, industrial, and exterior settings. 
Opened by John Basanese and his wife Eleanor in 1975, West General began its life as a supplier to the heavy materials handling industry. But it is and always has been more than that - it's a family company dedicated to service. When customers complained all that lovely equipment was producing too much noise, we didn't send them to somebody else. We figured out how to solve the problem (even if Eleanor had to sometimes sew burlap by hand to make sound curtains).

That legacy, and its commitment to quality, has been carried on by five of John and Eleanor's children, and five of their grandchildren, who all labored to build this company into what it is today.

Meet the Team

Sharon Sullivan
President

Building on her parent’s legacy of providing individualized attention and expert customer service, Sharon has been at West General for over 12 years. Sharon’s desire to help people began early with her degree in Therapeutic Recreation, 7 years as a rafting guide, and working in a variety of sales settings. Road trips, hiking along the coast, along with gatherings of family and friends, are her most loved leisure time activities.

Ed Basanese

SENIOR DESIGNER

Ed recently celebrated his 30th year with West General, bringing the knowledge gained from his BS in International Economics from Georgetown University into the business world of finance, environmental, and export projects. Ed was previously involved in purchasing and facilities management in the Silicon Valley electronics industry. Ed likes hiking and spending time with his family.

Christina, our General Manager, works to make sure everyone knows all about the newest products and trends in acoustics and architectural finishes. She has a degree in Business Administration and past experience with graphic design and marketing. Christina and her husband love to travel and see places all around the world. These days, her life is filled with chasing after her two sons, hiking and baking.

Inside sales

After a successful career in Student and Special Education with a local school district, Sue came to West General as our Inside Sales Coordinator. During her time away from work, Sue loves to hike, work on her home and yard, sail when possible and spend time with her wonderful family.

Kim Pfahnl
Account Manager

As Office Manager, Kim came to West General in 2012 with the goal of making the company run at its most efficient while providing excellent customer service. Kim received her BA in Theatre Arts, and her earlier career was spent in design, both theatre design and graphic design. She spends her non-work hours in advocacy and support of the arts.

Beau is the manufacturer’s representative who started in 2014. After a brief time away, he rejoined the team in 2021. Visiting with vendors and clients he offers both in person and virtual product education and consulting. When not working he enjoys cars and automotive sports.
